  • Most of the homeless people living in Connecticut suffer from income problems, not mental health or addiction issues, studies show (Hartford Courant, Oct. 5, 2002)
  • Perception: illiterate, mostly male, unemployed, old. Reality: mostly high school graduates, 20% have jobs, middle-aged and getting younger, more and more women
  • According to the Hartford Courant, shelters across Connecticut are turning away record numbers of people. MACC's Samaritan Shelter could sleep many more homeless women if we had the beds.
